We Are Hoping For Over 500 Pastor/Leaders Trained This Trip!
I will be leaving for a 3 week - 6 or 7 Training Gathering Trip in just a few hours. If you could follow along and pray for each Teaching Gathering. There are "hyperlinks" in blue embedded in this email to give you insights to the town/cities/villages/regions in which we are training on this trip.
I will be preaching in
Debre Zeit Sunday, September 18
th. Early the next morning we will be leaving for the first Training Gathering in
Sagure. Wednesday, September 21
st, we will have the second Training Gathering in
Beqoji with the third Training Gathering in
Asela starting on Friday, September 23
rd.
Saturday Evening we will travel back to Debre Zeit to preach at another church. Monday, September 26
th, we will drive some 5-7 hours to the
Wolaita Sodo Region. Tuesday, September 27
th is a High Holy Day of the Ethiopian Eastern Orthodox Church. It is called “
Finding the True Cross of Jesus”. They celebrate this by gathering in town/village squares and lighting bonfires. Thousands attend the colorful and vibrant ceremony of religious chantings around the bonfire. According to tradition, the bonfire commemorates how Queen Helena, as legend has it, found with the smoke of a bonfire, where to search for the true cross in Jerusalem, or how, by a series of bonfires, she signaled to her son Constantine in Constantinople her success in finding it.
On Wednesday and Thursday, we will be having our fourth Training Gathering in
Areka, then Friday and Saturday we will teach in
Sodo. Sunday, October 2
ndwill be a day of rest and the final Training Gathering will be in
Arba MinchMonday and Tuesday. We then have a 7 hour drive back to Addis Ababa where I catch a midnight flight and start my journey back home.
